July 31, 2017 The British Pageant Starts This Week

This past week was great. Abby and Eleanor are doing super well. We
saw Abby a couple times and she is reading the Book of Mormon and is
praying. She loves it. She asks us for chapters to read, she is
feeling stronger and more positive and we have seen the change already
in her. We gave her a baptismal goal of August 19th so she needs lots
of prayers to receive a confirmation of that!

Eleanor continues to become more and more converted. She loves the
Gospel and has become so strong because of it. Her family situation is
very very hard but she finds so much happiness and peace from the
Gospel and that has been a testimony strengthener to me. She committed
to August 19th for baptism and is very excited for it!

Highlights: had a Zone Conference here in Chorley this past week. The
Chorley, Liverpool and Preston zones were here and it was a very
uplifting meeting. Elder Vincent and I got to conduct the meeting
which was fun. We talked a lot about having a vision and then setting
goals/ making plans for that vision and then doing it! We also talked
a lot about visualisation which is something  I have always liked
(particularly with basketball). Beginning with the end in mind and
visualising success.

The British pageant is this week and if you don't know about it look
it up! It's basically just as big as the Nauvoo or Manti or the other
pageants! It's about the early history of the church with the
missionaries coming over to England. We are super excited about it, we
will be very involved with a booth and also performing in the finale.

July 24, 2017 One Year!

This past week was really great. We were super busy with appointments,
teaching a lot and we have some great people progressing! Eleanor is
still progressing really well, we have seen her a lot and she is
converted but is just waiting for some legal complexities to pass over
before she gets baptised! She loves studying the Gospel and is fun to
teach because she knows so much. Unfortunately we haven't been able to
see or get in contact with Heather.

We had a miracle this week with our new friend Abbey. We were looking
through our phone for former investigators and we felt like we should
call her and she was very open to meeting with us. When we saw her the
next day she expressed that she had been crying for a while and was
really struggling when we called her! She agreed that it was a sign
from God and was very accepting. She is super good friends with a
family in one of the wards and so we taught her at their home last
night and it went super well. Abbey is really looking for peace and is
excited to find it within the Gospel! So much potential there.

Highlights: had my first sick day on my mission this past Wednesday!
We had some dodgy dessert from a member and I accidentally ate it
after it had been sitting in the car haha. So I was in bed for almost
all of Wednesday. I am blessed and lucky though that I made it almost
a year without a sick day. We also did some service for our
investigator Emma on Saturday. Made some cabinets for her and did her
dishes. She is super funny and we hope to have her progressing soon.

I can't believe that it is my one year mark this week! I have been
reflecting recently about my mission thus far and I am just seriously
so blessed. I am so extremely grateful for all the experiences I have
had on my mission. I wish I could put into words how much my mission
and being a missionary means to me. People will say things like
"giving up or sacrificing two years for a mission" (I even said these
words before) but a mission truly is the greatest, most sacred
privilege and opportunity to represent the Saviour of the world, Jesus
Christ. I love Him and I know He lives. He walks beside me and really
does guide me. I bear this testimony in the name of Jesus Christ,
amen.

July 17, 2017 A Whole New World

Well I feel like I am back in my natural habitat here in Chorley. We
see the temple and members every single day. It's like being back in
Provo. It's so amazing, it's been a huge blessing. We cover 4
different wards but more specifically focus on 2 of them. We were at
church almost the whole day yesterday which was different. The members
here are so good to work with and it's been good to see the teachers
that I had while I was here at the MTC. Also, I have been driving
which is way fun.

I am very happy and excited to work with Elder Vincent. He is one of
my best friends on the mission and we get along so well. We are having
lots of fun. We had Missionary Leadership Council this past week at
the mission home and it was great. Still so excited to work with
President McReynolds, he is amazing.

Things are going well work wise. We have a couple friends who we are
working closely with, Eleanor and Heather. Eleanor has been taught for
a while and knows basically everything. She has had a couple different
baptismal dates but we are hoping to really help her commit fully. She
has an amazing testimony though and is consistent with coming to
church. Heather is dated for the 29th of this month but we haven't
been able to see her the past couple days but we really hope to see
her soon. She is great though and is very excited to be baptised.

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

July 10, 2017 Transferring to Chorley!

I am going to be transferring to Chorley and am becoming a zone leader
with one of my really good mission friends Elder Vincent from Canada!
I'm very excited and grateful for this opportunity. Especially to
serve in the area where the temple and MTC are and also, I will be in
Chorley for the British pageant next month!

The work has still been slow but we have some good people that we are
working with. One in particular is Joanne. We had seen her a few times
on the door step and she was always open to have us come back and so
we gave her a Book of Mormon and when we went to see her on Wednesday
she had actually read up to 1 Nephi 4! She had so many good questions
and we were able to have a great Restoration lesson. She has been
reading more and is now praying and feeling the Spirit everyday! So
much potential there.

We had a multi-zone Conference on Tuesday which was one of the most
amazing meetings I have been to. President McReynolds is a super
powerful speaker and I was taught by the Spirit so much during the
meeting. I am very excited about President McReynolds. We had an
exchange with the zone leaders and also some elders had to come down
from an area in the mission that is being closed and so they stayed at
our flat for a few days. It was fun to have 4 elders in the flat.

Exciting news, I had my practical driving test this week and passed!
So I am officially legal to drive in the U.K.  It's a miracle how it
happened though. I had been praying for many days to find a driving
test before the end of the transfer and I even paid extra money to get
my test moved up but had no luck. Then on Wednesday I randomly went
online and checked for available tests and there was one in our area
the next day at a perfect time! My driving examiner was super nice and
everything went super smoothly. My testimony that the Lord directs
this work was strengthened through this experience! Miracle.

I invite you all to read one of my favourite scriptures: 2 Nephi 32:3.
Take care!

July 3, 2017 Dunn's Sealing!

This week we had the opportunity to go and see the Dunn family be
sealed for time and all eternity and it was absolutely amazing! They
were all so emotional and the Spirit was soo strong. Probably one of
the most powerful spiritual experiences I have had. I have seen that
family change so much in the time I have been on my mission. So much
joy.

The work has been very up and down (as you can probably tell from my
emails each week haha). We have some good people that we are teaching
but they are just very busy. We seem to find golden people but then
just don't end up progressing. We have found a lot of prepared people
from Africa but our schedules just don't work together. We found some
nice people that we will see this next week though!

Highlights: Saying bye to the Ulrich's was sad but we got to meet
President and Sister McReynolds and they are great! They are a little
more relaxed and are basically the same age as my Mom and Dad so it's
different. They were born in the U.K., lived in Australia and just
came from living in Arizona so their accents are pretty crazy haha.

Things are good here in Southern Manchester!
